When recently talking with a friend about my journey, I realized how utterly important it is for us as Christians and human beings to share our story with others. Because I live with the belief that even though we are all different, we are the same. We are all humans, we all have at least one thing in common, we can relate to each other in some way or another. So many of us get caught up in what we're comfortable with and what we're used to. I am trying to break these habits in both myself and encourage my friends and the people around me. I have recently been called to share my stories and time with the commonly rejected in our society, one in particular is the homeless. I attend Church on the Street on Sunday afternoons, a church service for the homeless people of Wichita. I started going with a friend in April and after the first time I was in love with these people and their ability to share so openly about their journey. They leave nothing out, they tell the good, the bad and the ugly, but one thing that stuck out when talking with these people is that they always talked about how blessed they were just to be alive and that God had woken them up that morning. I have found so much light and encouragement from these people. Everything has been put in persepective for me after talking with these beautiful people.
All my walls are being broken down by God and he is teaching me to be broken for people and love them unconditionally. Be encouraged to share, all it starts with is a "hello, how are you today?"
So if you are reading this and thinking, I've always wanted to reach out in some way but I'm not friendly enough or I don't know how to talk to people I don't know....
STOP MAKING EXCUSES! Get out there, get your story out there. Make a new friend, and maybe you'll learn something.
God bless.
